if i could punch skype i would. anyways i was wondering what should i do should i buy a new mic orshould i contact skype ? if you recommend a mic please tell me which type to buy which ones work withskype and creat less problems.
Well, before you start thinking your mic is faulty, you should make sure that it's not muted in your sound card, and that the volume is set to a reasonable level. Usually, when you buy a computer, the level is at 0%, don't ask me why but you have to change it. Play around with the sound settings in Skype, too, and make sure the volume levels are ok. I haven't used regular Skype in a long time, but I've heard how convoluted it is, so I can't tell you where those settings are, but I'm sure someone else knows.
I've never bought a computer at 0%. What computers have you been looking at? lol.
When messing with the sound card settings, whatever you do, do not disable any of your internal mics or speakers. I did this by accident and I had to reinstall my sound card driver. It wasn't hard, but it was annoying since at the time I wasn't sure where my CD's were for the computer, so I had to do some searching online for them.
When you change the sound card settings, and you want to change the mic, look for the microphone you want. It should be in a list box with your defaults. Then, look for the button that says "set as default, button", and that should work. I don't have my computer currently, otherwise I'd play around with Skype and tell you how to do it from there.
I meant that the mic volume has always been at 0% whenever I bought any computer. All the other volumes are usually somewhere around 30%, but with this HP that I recently bought, as well as my Del laptop, and the laptop I had before that, the mic was always set that way by default.
Mine was always set to 50% by default. however, the volume control options are certainly worth looking into before you blame the microphone, or Skype for that matter. Also, if you're using a USB headset or sound card, you will need to change that in Options in Skype as well.
I use GW connect. It's so much simpler than regular skype. Also, there's a thing in the control panel in windows that says something like default voice input device. You'll need to make sure the name of your microphone is selected in there.
I guess it depends on how the computer is set by default when you purchase it. Before I accidentally disabled my internal mic, I never bothered with it because nobody complained about it. The annoying fan was heard in the background, but there isn't a whole lot you can do to fix that with an internal one.
